Security staff at the Idaho State Correctional Center found a resident in distress in a housing unit shortly before 7 a.m. on May 8, 2023, and called 911. Paramedics and Ada County Sheriff's deputies responded, and the resident was pronounced dead at 7:42 a.m. The Idaho Department of Correction said the death was an apparent suicide and is investigating it.
