A Black man held in a jail near Savannah, Georgia, was taken from the jail by a mob and burned at the stake in a deliberate, public killing, according to a 1904 report in the Hawaiian Star. The paper's editorial condemned the lynching as a worse act than the one the mob said it was avenging. The account gives no name, age, or family for him.
