A man arrested by Savannah police was booked into the Chatham County Jail in Savannah, Georgia, on June 25, 2024. Jail medical staff sent him to a hospital for medical clearance, and after he returned to the jail he was found unresponsive in his cell. He was taken back to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating, his body was sent for autopsy, and his name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
