According to an Omaha dispatch relayed by the Frontier Index and printed in the Daily Gate City, a Vigilance Committee took one of three men from the jail near Beaver River City. The committee hanged him on November 12, 1868. The dispatch said the committee ordered other people in the area to leave within ten hours.
