A Black man was held in a jail along with five other Black men. Early on Sunday, May 21, 1911, a group of men presented the jailer with a telegram that was later shown to be bogus. A mob then took the men from the jail and killed them, this man among them. The Daily Gate City reported the killings as a lynching.
