A man, 65, died after being held at the Elmwood Jail in Milpitas, Santa Clara County, California, in April 2023. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said he was found in his cell on the afternoon of Thursday, April 6, and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office said preliminary indications point to suicide, and that the sheriff, the district attorney and the medical examiner-coroner are investigating. The sheriff's office withheld his name until his family could be notified.
