A man held at California State Prison, Sacramento, near Folsom, died on the evening of October 30, 2019, after a correctional officer fired a single shot during an attack on another prisoner in a housing unit. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said he was pronounced dead at the prison at 8:02 p.m. The department said its Deadly Force Investigations Team and prison administrators are investigating the shooting. The name of the man has not been released.
