A man in his 60s, whose name had not been released, was found dead in his bed during a morning medication check at the Sacramento County Main Jail on November 22, 2022. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said he was alone in a single cell with no visible injuries, and that he had tested negative for COVID-19. The Sheriff's Office opened an in-custody death investigation and notified the district attorney. The coroner was to release his identity after family notification, and no cause or manner of death had been stated.
