A 35-year-old man died at a hospital on August 30, 2025, about an hour and a half after he was found unresponsive in his cell at the San Diego Central Jail, where he was being held. The San Diego County Sheriff's Office said jail staff reported he was in medical distress. The sheriff's Homicide Unit is investigating, and the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, which are not yet known.
