A Black man whose name is not recorded in the 1925 report was taken from the custody of Holmes County officers by a posse near Sidon, Mississippi, on February 17, 1925. According to authorities at Sidon, the posse took him back and shot him to death alongside Hal Winters. The Montgomery Advertiser reported these events on February 18, 1925.
