On July 4, 1873, a man held in a jail in Arizona was taken from the jail by a mob and hanged. The surviving newspaper text is too damaged to recover his name or the town where this happened. The Delaware State Journal reported the killing on July 19, 1873. The text is partly garbled, so the details of who the mob was and how it reached him cannot be confirmed.
