A woman held at York Correctional Institute in Niantic, Connecticut, died on August 26, 2026, and was pronounced dead at 7:37 a.m. The Connecticut Department of Correction said she was found unresponsive in her cell that morning. The department said life-saving measures were attempted, and that the Office of the Inspector General is investigating. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, and the department said her next of kin had been notified.
