Three people held in the jail at Butlerville, Arkansas, were taken out of it by a mob on the night of Sunday, June 11, 1882. The mob hanged all three of them. They were in the custody of the jail when they were seized and killed, and their deaths were reported in the Connecticut Western News on June 14, 1882.
