According to the Cañon City Record, a band of men broke open the door of the Cañon City jail on First street in Colorado with axes and sledgehammers, took a man held there from his cell, and hanged him at the intersection of Sixth street and Rudd avenue, where his feet hung over the ditch water. He was one of two Mexican men held at the jail. The account gives no name for him.
