A man held in the town calaboose in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, was taken from the building by a crowd that attacked it, and the crowd hanged him at the edge of town. The Mohave County Miner, reporting in May 1884, said officers tried without success to quiet the crowd. The account of the mob comes from that single newspaper report.
