An investigation by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Alabama Disability Advocacy Program says a man who had recently had abdominal surgery, while held at an Alabama prison, told medical staff he was bleeding from the rectum. He had to ask for new pants because the blood kept soaking through his clothes, and staff offered him only an antacid. The investigation attributes his death to medical neglect.
