According to a brief telegraphic report in the Sacramento Daily Record-Union, a mob took one of three men from the jail at Las Lunas, New Mexico, on Friday night, October 7, 1881, and hanged him. The men are not named in the report. The man was held at the jail when the mob took him, and he was killed by hanging.
