Three brothers, the McDonald men, were held in a Texas jail in early 1882. According to the Daily Los Angeles Herald, reporting from Graham, Texas, the brothers attempted to escape, and the attempt ended in their deaths along with that of a deputy sheriff. The paper said several other people were seriously wounded in the attempt.
