A 38-year-old man died at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on July 23, 2022, two days after he was booked there. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said deputies and a nurse found him during a morning medical check, and that paramedics were called. The sheriff's department said the cause and manner of death are pending a coroner's autopsy and that it had opened an investigation. His name had not been released, pending notification of his next of kin.
