A 69-year-old man, whose name has not been released, died at the Kentucky River Regional Detention Center in Hazard, Kentucky, on November 3, 2020. Jail administrator Lonnie Brewer said he was found unresponsive in his cell around 5:20 a.m. after an overnight stay, and that he had been checked on periodically. The jail's account says he had declined medical services after arrest and was taken to a hospital before being returned to the jail. The Kentucky State Police and the jail are investigating, and no cause of death has been announced.
