A person held at the Spokane County Jail died on Tuesday afternoon, February 3, 2026, according to a sheriff's office news release. The sheriff's office said staff found the person in a cell while other people held there were being released for recreation. Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death. The county medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death and release the person's name.
