A youth held at the Mount View Youth Services Center in Lakewood, Colorado, died by suicide on August 27, 2017, according to the Colorado Department of Human Services. The department said staff found the youth during a room check and gave immediate aid before the youth was taken to a hospital. The state said internal and external investigations are ongoing. It was the second suicide at the center that summer.
