The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office told the Board of County Commissioners in April 2024 that one person died in a county jail, one of seven deaths in the county's jails from May 2023 onward. Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O'Donnell said the death was still under investigation at the time of the briefing, so the cause and manner have not been determined.
