A 55-year-old man from Birmingham, Alabama, was found unresponsive on the floor of his cell at the Jefferson County Jail on October 21, 2024, and taken to a hospital, where he died on October 26. The Jefferson County Coroner, who identified him, said an autopsy showed no signs of trauma or foul play. The coroner had not yet located his family to notify them at the time of reporting. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating his death.
