A man held at the Lafayette Detention Center in Oxford, Mississippi died in January 2023, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said he was found unresponsive in his cell and that there were no signs of foul play. Jail staff gave life-saving measures before he was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Mississippi State Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.
