A 45-year-old woman died on January 19, 2022, while held at the Shawnee County Adult Detention Center in Kansas. The Shawnee County Department of Corrections said she was found unresponsive in her cell in the general population housing unit and was pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m. after emergency personnel tried to save her. Her name had not been released while her next of kin were being notified. The Shawnee County Department of Corrections and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are investigating the death, and no cause or manner of death has been reported.
