A man died on April 8, 2022, at the Scott County Jail in Iowa, a few hours after he was brought in and placed in a holding cell. The Scott County Sheriff's Office said a correctional officer found him in medical distress during a wellness check about four hours later, and he was taken to Genesis East hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office has not released his name. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating, and an autopsy is planned, so the cause and manner of death are not yet determined.
