A 47-year-old person died on January 20, 2021, while held at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex in Tucson, Arizona. The Pima County Sheriff's Department said the death was caused by complications from COVID-19. The person was placed in the jail infirmary after showing symptoms and testing positive in late December 2020, and was taken to the hospital on January 14, 2021. The sheriff's department said the death is under investigation and that it was the second COVID-19 death in the county's jail system.
