A man held at the York County Detention Center in South Carolina died on February 8, 2021. The York County Sheriff's Office said that detention officers found him unresponsive in a booking-area cell that evening, and that he was taken to Piedmont Medical Center, where he later died. Sheriff Kevin Tolson asked the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate, and the cause of death has not been released. No name, age or family account of him appears in the available reporting.
