A 65-year-old man was held at the Vigil-Maldonado Detention Center in Colfax County, New Mexico. On August 8, 2026, detention staff found him unresponsive on the floor of his cell during a security check, according to the Colfax County Sheriff's Office, and he was taken to Miner's Colfax Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
