A man died while held at the Ravalli County Detention Center in Hamilton, Montana, on May 13, 2024. The Ravalli County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Steve Holton, said that after an initial investigation it appears he died by suicide. The Hamilton Police Department was asked to conduct an independent investigation, and the Missoula County Coroner is also looking into the cause and manner of death. A coroner's inquest is to be held after those investigations finish.
