A person whose name has not been released died at the Washoe County Detention Facility in Reno, Nevada, on August 15, 2026, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said the person was found unresponsive in their cell around midday on a Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene after deputies, facility medical staff and REMSA crews attempted life-saving measures. The sheriff's office said an initial review found no evidence of foul play. The sheriff's office and the medical examiner are investigating the cause and manner of death, which have not been determined.
