A person held at the Intake Service Center in Cranston, Rhode Island, died on June 28, 2024, after becoming unresponsive. According to J.R. Ventura, public information officer for the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, another person in the unit reported a medical incident to staff. The person was taken to Kent County Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The State Police and the department's investigative unit are investigating the death.
