Name not reported
A dispatch datelined Columbia on December 11, 1876, printed in the New Orleans Republican, reports that a mob took ten Black men from a sheriff's posse and lynched them. The men were in the posse's custody when the mob seized them. The sheriff's posse did not stop the mob, according to the account's description of the seizure. The men's names are not recorded in this account, and the source is a partly illegible historical newspaper page.
