A Black man whose name is not known was held by officers in a Georgia county in late October 1890. On October 31, 1890, a mob of white men took him from the officers, tied him to a tree and shot him to death, according to a report in The Durham Recorder published November 5, 1890. His family, age and the facility that held him are not named.
