A man from McArthur was one of three men held in the custody of Sheriff Oliver while being taken toward Little Rock, Arkansas. According to the Fisherman & Farmer, a June 1892 newspaper report, a mob took the three men from the sheriff and killed them. The men were lynched while in the sheriff's custody.
