Two Black men held in the jail of Granville County, North Carolina, were taken from the jail by citizens and hanged, according to a report from the Raleigh Observer reprinted in the Charlotte Home and Democrat in December 1881.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Raleigh Observer, as reprinted by the Charlotte Home and Democrat, reports that citizens took two men from the Granville County jail and hanged them.
