A person in the custody of the Florida Department of Corrections died on February 14, 2022, while being transported from South Florida to the Women's Reception Center in Marion County. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the death and has not released the person's name or the cause of death. Ten corrections officers have been placed on paid leave, and one has resigned.
