A man died in his cell at the Rockingham County Detention Facility in North Carolina on October 30, 2023. The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office said he suffered a cardiac-related medical emergency and that neither suicide nor foul play is suspected. The sheriff's office said officers and medical staff responded and EMS was called, but he died. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was contacted to conduct a follow-up investigation.
