A man died on May 9, 2021, while held at the El Paso County jail in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The sheriff's office said he was found unconscious in his cell shortly before 1 a.m. and that jail staff continued life-saving measures until emergency medical and fire personnel arrived. The county coroner is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and the sheriff's office said COVID-19 is not suspected.
