Name not reported
A 52-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, died at the Yuma Border Patrol Station in Yuma, Arizona, on March 29, 2025, after agents took her into custody in California. Customs and Border Protection first said she was out of camera view when she died, but later acknowledged she was in a bathroom stall. The agency also acknowledged that she had not been checked for about 7.5 hours overnight and that six logged welfare checks were not performed. CBP's public notice came nine days after its deadline, and the agency said the Office of Professional Responsibility and the DHS Inspector General were notified. CBP's account lists the cause as suicide by hanging, and Rep. Pramila Jayapal is cited as having raised concerns about the death.
