A man, 47, died on March 29, 2025, at Hancock County Jail, in the custody of the Hancock County Sheriff's Office. The death was reported to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, which does not publish the names of the people who died. The Hancock County Sheriff's Office reported the manner of death as natural causes. Its report says: “Subject was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 0132 EMS was paged, on duty corrections officer and deputy entered cell to render aid, no pulse was found, AED was used (no shock advised) CPR was started. EMS arrived 0145 conducted ALS assessment.”
