A man, 22, died on January 23, 2025, at Cook County Jail, in the custody of the Cook County Sheriff's Office. The death was reported to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, which does not publish the names of the people who died. The Cook County Sheriff's Office reported the manner of death as natural causes. Its report says: “Per the medical examiner's notes, the cause of death was natural. The death is certified as BACTERIAL PNEUMONIA (POLYMICROBIAL). RECENT INFLUENZA A INFECTION IS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THE DEATH.”
