A man, 72, died on September 26, 2023, at Stark County Jail, in the custody of the Stark County Sheriff's Office. The death was reported to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, which does not publish the names of the people who died. The Stark County Sheriff's Office reported the manner of death as suicide. Its report says: “Currently Pending Coroner's report. The deceased was found unresponsive in cell with bed sheet wrapped around neck. Assumed suicide by hanging to be confirmed by autopsy.”
