A man, 22, died on March 25, 2022, at Whiteside County Jail, in the custody of the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office. The death was reported to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, which does not publish the names of the people who died. The Whiteside County Sheriff's Office reported the manner of death as suicide. Its report says: “Staff was doing a routine cell check and found decedent hanging, staff called for assistance and began life saving measures, EMS was activated and arrived shortly after and took over life saving measures.”
