A man, 56, died on December 14, 2020, in the custody of the Island Lake Police Department. The death was reported to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, which does not publish the names of the people who died. The Island Lake Police Department reported the manner of death as suicide. Its report says: “Subject was placed in temporary custody in a holding cell and hung himself with the string from his sweatpants. He was transported to the hospital and died four days later.”
