On June 22, 2023, a 42-year-old man held at the DeKalb County Jail in Sycamore, Illinois, became unresponsive in the early afternoon. Paramedics took him to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. DeKalb County Sheriff Andy Sullivan asked the Illinois State Police to investigate independently, and the coroner's office is also investigating; the sheriff's office lists the manner of death as pending. The sheriff's office had not released his name, pending notification of his family.
