In July 1899, the Semi-Weekly Interior Journal reported that a man held in Missouri by officers was taken from them by a mob. According to the paper, the mob beat him for about half an hour and then hanged him. He was held at a facility the notice identifies only in general terms, and the paper's account is the only record of how he was taken. Nothing in the report names him or gives his age, so his family and his life before his death cannot be described from this source.
