In July 1894, a report from Atkinson, Nebraska, said a crowd took the son of Ralph Hills from officers and hanged him near Bush Creek. The same report said Ralph Hills and another man were hanged in the same incident. The men were in the officers' custody when the crowd seized them, according to the report.
