One of 2 people whose names were not reported
According to The Evening Bulletin, a man held in a jail in Washington state was shot to death by a mob of masked men in April 1891. The men broke in around 1 a.m. on a Saturday, overpowered the jailers, and went to the cells, where they fired many bullets into the two men held there. One of the two was killed, and because his name is garbled in the scanned newspaper text, he is recorded here without one. The paper reported that the jailers were overpowered, not that they handed the men over.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Evening Bulletin reports that a group of masked men broke into the jail, overpowered the jailers and shot one of the two men held there.
